Chicken breasts and Buttermilk

Another great recipe from Simple-chicken-recipes.com and very proud of it we are too. This oven baked chicken breast recipe fell out of the sky one day and we made the most out of this gift from the gods.

I hope you enjoy it as much as we do. Please feel free to let us know.

  • Preperation time: 15 Minutes

  • Cooking Time 1 Hour

  • Serves 2

Ingredients

  • 1/2 Litre buttermilk (if you can't find butter milk then click here to make it)

  • 2 Large chicken breasts

  • 1 cup Plain flour

  • Cumin powder

  • Oil

  • 1 tsp Oregano

  • 1 tbsp salt

  • 2 tbsp Black cracked pepper

Method

Pour the buttermilk into a bowl and add the chicken breasts. Cover and leave for a few hours in the fridge.

Mix the flour, salt, pepper, oregano and cumin into a big bowl.

When the chicken has been in the buttermilk for at least three hours, take it out and put it straight into the bowl of flour. Cover it completely making sure it has a nice coating of flour all over.

Now find a nice big pan and pour in about 1 inch of oil at the bottom. Get it nice and hot and then add the chicken and shallow fry for 2 -4 minutes on both sides.

Repeat this process with all the chicken and then preheat the oven to 180 C.

Next find a nice clean oven tray and put the chicken on it and then into the oven. Bake for about 30 minutes or untill it is cooked through.

It should come out a beautiful golden colour and nice and crispy.
